Course Outline & Learning Objectives:

"Starting Your Own Dental Hygiene Business" is designed to guide dental professionals through the process of preparing themselves and then making the decision and establishing their practice. The presentation covers key objectives such as Identifying their passion and types of DH businesses, understanding business planning, navigating legal and administrative requirements, and getting ready to implement the plan and journey of owning a business. Attendees will learn essential key points to consider and skills to move forward. By the end of the session, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and confidence to make the decision and successfully launch their own dental hygiene business.

Balbir Sohi

Balbir has been in the dental profession for over 19 years, founding two organizations that promote affordable and accessible preventative oral care for Canadians. Her mobile dental care business, Smiles on Wheels (Dragons' Den winner), and her not-for-profit, My Dream Smile, have made her a prominent figure in the dental hygienist and local commerce communities. She raises awareness and advocates for dental and health care access through media, public speaking, and educational involvement. Balbir mentors aspiring entrepreneurs and dental hygienists across Canada and Internationally.  She serves on the Board of Directors for various not-for-profits. She was actively involved in committees at the CDHA and now serves as an elected Professional Council member at CDHO. Balbir also teaches at CADH as a radiology instructor. Her work has received global accolades.
